2016 Year in Review
2016 was a year of many changes for us, both internally and externally. We started the year off with the launch of our new website that was rebranded and developed as part of our 10th anniversary last year. We welcomed new interns, new staff, and many new clients. 2016 was also the year we won the most awards since our inception! We look forward to riding this wave of growth and development into 2017!
Our 2016 Highlights
Won two Bronze Stevie Awards for "Marketing Agency of the Year" and "Communications Department of the Year" from the American Business Awards 2016, the latter was for our role as Tidewater Physical Therapy's communications department
Won two W3 Silver Awards for our rebranded website and for our work on our client, Avery Hall Insurance Group's, website
Won a Davey Silver Award for our work on Avery Hall Insurance Group's Style Guide
Staff member Kayleigh Spencer was promoted from marketing and communications specialist to marketing and communications manager
Staff member Lillian Zhao was promoted from junior graphic designer to graphic designer
Marketing Coordinator Michelle Zhao graduated from Vassar College with department honors and an award for her senior thesis project
Marketing & Communications Assistant Madeleine Clemens received her professional certification in Hootsuite, a social media management platform
VP of Business Development Kirsten Strohmer was appointed to the Maryland-Anhui, China Sister State Partnership under Maryland's Office of the Secretary of State
President Mary Ann Henker was invited to be a coach at the Pitch Perfect Eastern Shore - a training workshop to mentor presenters for Salisbury University’s Shore Hatchery, a semi-annual business competition with up to $100K in funding awards
Mary Ann Henker was also the chair and sole USA representative of the Final Judging Committee for the international Women in Business Awards 2016, presented by the Stevie Awards
Welcomed our summer interns: Destiny Jones, Inwoong Hwang, Nelli Balkarova, Addison Willey, all from Salisbury University's Perdue School of Business; Emma West from College of William and Mary; and William Zhao from Easton High School, MD
Introduced and launched nine separate and uniquely individualized blog series on The Henker Group LifeStyle Blog
Introduced and launched The Henker Group's business blog series, "Be in the Know"
Continued our tradition of going to Rehoboth Beach, DE for our annual teambuilding day
Mary Ann Henker gave a presentation on "How to Create a Marketing Plan" to several business owners and marketers at the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce on Maryland's Lower Shore
Nelli Balkarova, one of our summer interns, was promoted to Marketing Assistant at the end of her internship
The Henker Group team participated as judges for the 2016 International Business Awards
Michelle Zhao attended the Women in Business Awards 2016 ceremony in New York City
Initiated our newest mascot, Jax Spencer, when his mom, Kayleigh Spencer, welcomed him into the world!

Designed and developed a new website for Easton-based Christ Church Day School
Provided consulting services for Caplink Wellness, an educational and motivational organization for businesses, groups, and individuals
Was a proud sponsor of regional event Crabtoberfest as well as provided design services, website maintanence, and social media consulting among other services for the Düren-Dorchester County Partnership
Donated nearly 300 books to the Talbot County Judy Center Partnership in our clients' names as our holiday gift to them, all of which were read and given to the children of grades P3, Pre-K, and Kindergarten at Easton Elementary School - Dobson in Easton, MD
Wrote over 15 blogs for The Cause Agency in Fort Worth, TX

Worked with Mid Shore Behavioral Health in their comprehensive rebranding initiative for which we developed and launched their new website
Continued to support tenured client, Tidewater Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Associates, P.A. in the large scale role as their marketing and PR department
Launched a successful PR campaign for TGM Group, LLC, a full-service certified public accounting firm serving the Mid-Atlantic region and one of the larger accounting firms on Delmarva
Collaborated with MTS Broadcasting to design their new media kit
Developed Easton Utilities' marketing materials for their Sustainability Campus
Supported Allen & Marshall Auctioneers and Appraisers LLC with a PR campaign to promote the acquisition of Talbot County's first and Mid-Shore's oldest auction house
Continued to support Avery Hall Insurance Group in their marketing needs as a result of their 90th rebranding initiative from the year prior
Worked with Silver Linings on an intensive regional summer marketing campaign
Launched a PR campaign for Atlantic Financial Group, LLC for their 2nd annual donation to Compass Regional Hospice's Camp New Dawn in support of Children's Grief Awareness Day
Began initial work with Talbot Senior Center - Brookletts Place to develop a comprehensive public relations initiative and marketing campaign
Designed new product packaging for SITZMARKS, a product of Konsyl Pharmaceuticals, an international health care products company
