Lillian Zhao | Junior Art Director
Lillian Zhao joined The Henker Group as a marketing and graphic design intern in January of 2015 and was promoted to junior graphic designer in the summer of 2015, then to graphic designer in September 2016. Most recently, Zhao was promoted to the position of junior art director in May 2017. She is an integral part of the team who supports The Henker Group in client branding and rebranding initiatives, creates marketing collateral for clients, designs logos and style guides, as well as being the lead on the design elements for The Henker Group’s 10th year rebranding initiative. In addition to her design responsibilities, Zhao completes high-level marketing analytics to include social media and web (i.e. Google Analytics) for client campaigns.
Zhao's design and layout work on the Style Guide, or Brand Standards, for Avery Hall Insurance Group garnered a Davey Silver Award for The Henker Group, which is sanctioned and judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, an elite invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a "Who's Who" of acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms.
Zhao attends the Raymond A. Mason School of Business at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA with an expected graduation date in May 2018. She majors in marketing with a concentration in innovation and design while minoring in art. Zhao is the art editor for the College’s fashion and art literary magazine, ROCKET. She also serves as VP Marketing and sits on the professional development committee in the Omega chapter of the Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity. Additionally, Zhao was also the marketing director for the 2016 Hult Prize at William & Mary. While not working on The Henker Group projects, Zhao’s on-campus job is being the marketing assistant specializing in creative direction and graphic design at the Cohen Career Center. She is Adobe-certified in Adobe Illustrator in addition to having advanced professional skills in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Premiere Pro. Prior to joining The Henker Group in 2015, Zhao worked as the graphic design and marketing intern at Silver Linings in St. Michaels, MD.
Zhao was born and raised on Maryland's Eastern Shore. In addition to English, she is fluent in the Fujianese Chinese dialect and has a limited working proficiency in Mandarin Chinese. Her creative ability from the actual applied sense is that of a true artist. She is skilled in the traditional creative techniques of oil on canvas painting and her graphic design style is clean and modern. She has a remarkable ability to capture the true essence of The Henker Group’s many clients and apply her art skills to their respective projects to allow client messages to be inviting to readers and viewers across many mediums.
